Highlights From ESL’s First-Ever Counter-Strike 2 Show Match
The Counter-Strike 2 show match began with players of The Beta Boys and Team 27015 entering the scene.
While JustHarry and Xizt participated in the short pre-match interview, Cadian ran up to Harry Russel to jokingly bully the captain. Heroic’s coach Xizt admitted that working with this player is rough.
After the captains of both teams shook their hands, players prepared for the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 LAN show match to start.
The Limited Test of Counter-Strike 2 began a few days ago after Valve announced the update would launch in the summer of 2023. Right now, the only map available to play in Counter-Strike 2 is de_dust2, this is why the CS2 show match before the ESL Pro League Season 17 Grand Final was played on this map.
The Beta Boys started the match on the T side, and Team 27015 was playing on the CT side. The pistol round ended with a quick win for Xizt’s team.
A few rounds later, TeSeS performed a clutch solely winning the round against his two opponents from Team 27015, shalfey and dycha. Madsen used AK-47 | Legion of Anubis.
In the fifth round of the show match, NertZ got a double kill with his AWP | Dragon Lore and then threw a grenade into the smoke to get a vision on the opponent and secure a triple kill.
In the next round, Krad smoked the Mid Doors and then threw a grenade to peek behind the doors, where he noticed Snappi and took him down immediately.
Krad killed two opponents pushing from A Short with his Galil AR, then hit another with a grenade.
Later into the first half of the historical Counter-Strike 2 show match, JustHarry from The Beta Boys was left alone to clutch the round against shalfey, Snappi, and Xizt. Spoiler alert: he nailed the round using his M4A1-S | Emphorosaur-S.
CadiaN showed a trick to prevent the smoke grenade from landing on XBOX with a Molotov. Watch and learn!
Who said coaches don’t play? Heroic’s coach Xizt hit an awesome highlight taking down two defenders from Tunnels.
In the seventeenth round, The Beta Boys had an eco and decided to aggressively push Top Mid by performing a trick with smoke and a grenade, but dycha, Snappi, and shalfey denied the push.
Counter-Strike 2 has been out only for a few days, so technical issues will be a thing for a while. In this show match, players had trouble staying connected, but everyone enjoyed dycha’s character dancing.
The first-ever Counter-Strike 2 LAN show match ended with Team 27015 defeating The Beta Boys with a 16:14 score. GG!
